Agricultural Extension Reform

We developed strategies and institutional frameworks to enhance the effectiveness and coordination of agricultural extension services across multiple African countries.

Developed an agricultural extension services (AES) strategy to strengthen efficiency and effectiveness of pluralistic extension services in Malawi and recommended AES that could best be provided by the different agricultural extension providers in the public-private-partnership arrangement for the benefit of the smallholder farmers.
Supported the development of an operational plan for implementation of the Knowledge, Information and Skills (KIS) for African Agriculture Programme (a component of the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) endorsed by African Union Commission and the NEPAD Planning & Coordination Agency.
Undertook a functional and institutional analysis of the Plan for the Modernisation of Agriculture (PMA) Secretariat, Uganda, taking into account its original and new mandates and facilitated the development a five-year work plan.
Conducted institutional analysis and implemented a stakeholder development programme of agri-based local economic development based on the rice, pineapple and honey value chains in the nine-district Northwestern Province of Zambia.
