Mr Leonard Chitongo
Mr Leonard Chitongo is the Head of Operations and Business Development at PSI Consult International Limited. He is responsible for spearheading the growth of the firm’s African footprint and managing project delivery within this jurisdiction. He is an economist with quantitative analysis skills who has experience in producing economic forecast reports covering the African continent. His insights in this regard have been used by both public and private sector organisations on the African continent and beyond to develop matrices to assist them in their investment decisions. Mr Chitongo has worked on a number of assignments for Regional Economic Communities (RECs) in Eastern and Southern Africa. He has specific experience of developing complex Multi-Annual Work Plans (MAWPs) and Annual Work Plans (AWPs) for these RECs. He has also done evaluations on cross border trade for a number of RECs in Eastern and Southern Africa.
Mr Chitongo has the experience of facilitating strategic planning, training and capacity building workshops for a number of organisations in Eastern and Southern Africa. He has done this as part of a number of projects meant to reinforce the capacity of private and public sector organisations in Eastern and Southern Africa including assisting intermediary organisations (IOs) in 5 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa improve support to their members. He was also Project Director on TradeMark East Africa’s (TMEA) pioneering project on the design of economic growth hubs for the development of the SAGCOT agricultural corridor in Tanzania. The project covered interventions in the agricultural corridor in Southern Tanzania with a focus on the maize, rice and soybean value chains with transport and logistics as cross cutting issues. He has worked in a number of countries in Africa which include Zimbabwe, South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Djibouti, Sudan, Ethiopia, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Botswana, Mauritius, Mozambique, Uganda, Tanzania, Seychelles, Burundi and Rwanda.
